Recently visited Malaysia for a few days after visiting Indonesia for the first time, and though both are majority-Muslim neighbors and speak similar languages, it was like night and day.
I've been to Malaysia (and Kuala Lumpur) twice before, but I really enjoyed Kuala Lumpur this time. While it's not the most exciting country, Malaysia is really multicultural (much more than Taiwan or Hong Kong) and relatively developed. It could be considered a true crossroads of Asia, being at the center of Southeast Asia and not far from both South and East Asia. I do like that Malaysians are quite courteous, but not overly (superficially) polite as how some people in Taiwan are. I would say perhaps one reason why Malaysia might not be as popular or well-liked by people is that it's not a place that panders to foreigners too much, which is right.
