Today marks the start of Sexual Abuse & Sexual Violence Awareness Week.

#ItsNotOK that so many people are impacted by sexual violence and abuse, but hopefully, by raising awareness of the issue, we can help to destigmatise it. This week, and every week, we are here for you.

[Teesside University Student Life @TeesStudentLife]

As part of Sexual Violence Awareness Week (SVAW), we have an event in Student Life, today, Mon 6 Feb, 11:00-14:00. Local services will be attending to discuss the support they offer. Come along for a chat and some freebies.

This week is #SVAW and we’re in the SLB promoting our SVLO service as well as challenging myths and raising awareness of support services and promoting our online Consent Matters Training which is available for all TU students. #YesToConsent #Y2R

[EmilyTest @Emilytest12]

Having an anonymous reporting system is so important. Many ask "What's the point?" The point is that it gives victims/survivors the chance to 'dip their toe in the water', take things at a pace that is comfortable for them. Such practice evidences you are trauma informed #EndGBV

We’re Christmas ready! 🎄❄️🌟

Have you taken the ‘Consent Matters’ course yet? Learn about how to recognise and ask for sexual consent, look out for others on campus, and where to find support if you need it. Access the short course here in Blackboard via the ‘Organisations’ page https://t.co/GlF6NvBSuJ

[Harriet Smailes @hlsmailes]

While ensuring students and staff are getting the support they need now, universities must proceed in developing their approaches to sexual violence in a way that is planned, informed, thoughtful, and deliberate. Watch this space for more on how to take the next steps. #16Days

[Harriet Smailes @hlsmailes]

On #Day1, I am encouraging all universities to consider taking a bit of a pause. It may seem counter-intuitive but rushing into action without thinking it through will create unsustainable and ineffective approaches to prevention and response. #16Days
