Emotions aren't evidence. Fear isn't a plan. I build, climb, travel, and argue with AI about whether it'll end us. So far it's losing Follow to think, not react
Fear without mechanism is irresponsible. There is zero evidence, not one event in history, that AI will wipe out humanity. What exists is an argument. Here's what it actually says, and what it doesn't.
The argument: build a system that pursues goals on its own, give it enough capability, and staying on and gathering resources become useful steps toward almost any goal. No malice needed. Highway through an anthill, not Terminator. Lab tests show hints of this in toy settings. Nothing shows it scales. Both the doomers and the dismissers are extrapolating.
The risk that IS real today has nothing to do with machine motives. It's people. Scams at scale, weapons made easier, power concentrated in whoever holds the strongest systems. Same story as printing, chemistry, and nuclear physics. The tool doesn't want anything. Some of the people holding it do.
So when someone tells the public "AI might end the world" without the mechanism attached, they aren't informing anyone. They're producing fear, bad regulation, and a convenient story for the companies that want to be seen as the responsible ones.
Nobody has ever stopped a technology that worked. They've only decided who got it first. The honest conversation isn't "should this exist." It's "what specifically can it do, who's holding it, and how do we verify what's going on inside." That's engineering, not prophecy.
Demand the mechanism. Skip the sermon.
The notion that earnings growth could outpace expenditure hinges on an optimistic wager, contingent upon accurately projecting a robust positive alpha for the U.S. economy. To offset $3 trillion in spending, nominal GDP would need to surge approximately 10.3% above the 2024 estimate of $29 trillion. While such a leap is statistically improbable given historical growth trends of 2-3% annually, it is not entirely outside the realm of possibility under exceptional conditions. Do we have exceptional conditions?
@theallinpod@rookisaacman@friedberg It was a great conversation, but weโre still left without an answer to why someone who shouldโve been nominated to take NASA to the next level wasnโt
@MAGAVoice Need clarification if you mean, controlled by the PRC or just owned by Chinese business entities. Just because youโre from China doesnโt mean youโre locked and step with the PRC. And Chinese businesses have to abide by US law so some clarification on this would be helpful.
DEFLATE asset prices, DEFLATE inflation, INTEREST RATES DROP, REFINANCE national debt. GET OUT of Ukraine and other spending programs. IGNOR THE MARKETS and STAY THE COURSE!
A consumption tax is better than an income tax because it rewards work, boosts savings, and fuels economic growth. It taxes spending, not earnings, making it fairer and harder to evade. It also simplifies the system, broadens the tax base, and drives investment for long-term prosperity. ๐บ๐ธ
