4,500-year-old Egyptian dress, painstakingly reassembled from approximately 7,000 beads, was found in an undisturbed tomb in Giza, Egypt. The dress is believed to have belonged to a female contemporary of King Khufu (2589-2566 BC). Although the original strings had disintegrated over the years, the beads remained in their original positions, enabling an accurate reconstruction. While the color of the beads had faded, they were originally blue and turquoise. Initially thought to have been worn for a dancing ritual, the dress's heavy weight suggested otherwise after assembly. Archaeologists now speculate that it may have been worn during funerals.

In 1994, Alison Botha was abducted near her home in South Africa.

Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger took her to a deserted area on the outskirts of town. There, they brutally raped her, disemboweled her, and slashed her throat so deeply that she was nearly decapitated.

As her attackers finally stepped back, Botha heard one of them say: “Do you think she’s dead?” “No one can survive that,” the other replied. The men then drive off.

In total she suffered 30 stab wounds & 16 slashes to her neck. Somehow, she remained conscious.

Lying alone atop sand and broken glass, Botha wrote the name of her attackers in the sand.

She then realised she might have a chance at survival. In the distance, she could see headlights streaking through the bushes. If she could just manage to get onto the road, someone might be able to help her.

While holding her nearly decapitated head onto her shoulders with one hand and keeping her intestines in with her other, she headed towards the road.

A young veterinary student named Tiaan Eilerd found Botha lying on the road, and then called emergency services.

One of her doctors said that he’d never seen such severe injuries in his 16 years of practicing medicine.

Luckily, she went on to make a full recovery and has since told her story in at least 35 countries.

The Man Who Was Stuck in an Airport for 18 Years. Mehran Karimi Nasser (born 1946), also known as Sir Alfred Mehran, is an Iranian refugee who lived in the departure lounge of Terminal One in Charles de Gaulle Airport from August 26, 1988, until July 2006 when he was hospitalized. His autobiography was published as a book, The Terminal Man, in 2004. Nasseri's story inspired the 2004 film, The Terminal.

Nasser alleges that he was expelled from Iran in 1977 for protesting against the Shah. After a long battle, involving applications in several countries, he was granted refugee status by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Belgium. This allegedly allowed him to reside in many other European countries. However, this claim has been disputed, as investigations have shown that Nasser was never expelled from Iran.

Having one British parent, he decided in 1986 to settle in the UK. However, while en route to the UK in 1988, his papers were lost when his briefcase was allegedly stolen. Some sources indicate that Nasser actually mailed his documents to Brussels while onboard a ferry to Britain and lied about them being stolen. Despite this setback, he boarded the plane for London but was promptly returned to France when he failed to present a passport to British immigration officials. He was initially arrested by the French but then released since his entry to the airport was legal, and he had no country of origin to be returned to. Thus began his residence at Terminal 1.
