7. Set Small, Achievable Goals
Improvement takes time, so set milestones:
• Swim one full lap without stopping
• Improve your form over speed
• Track progress weekly
5. Start with Simple Strokes
Freestyle and backstroke are great beginner strokes.
• Learn the basics before moving on to complex strokes
• Keep it smooth and steady by gliding in the water
4. Learn to Kick efficiently
Your kick drives your movement.
• Focus on straight legs and flexible ankles. Little knee bend is fine
• Kick from the hips, not knees
3. Breathing Basics
Control your breath to swim better.
• Inhale above water, exhale underwater
• Use a rhythm - e.g., every 3 strokes in freestyle
• Breathe on your side instead of front of you
2. Learn to Float
Floating is key to become comfortable in water. Practice by:
• Relaxing your body
• Keeping your face above water
• Stretching out your limbs
