3T took on a challenge in maths today when learning about telling time to the minute. The children raced against Miss Thompson to see who would be the speediest to find the correct time. Children worked really hard, using each interval to correctly find the suggested time.
Today, 6B had their final library visit. Children made a paper chain of things they were looking forward to at secondary school and things they were worrying about. They then used the library space for reading, game playing and even a spot of community jigsaw solving.
Our next terms big question in Early Years is ‘ where will our adventures take us?” And we are heading into space with our first text ” The Darkest Dark”.
Here are just a few areas set up ready for the children to explore!
We can’t wait to get stuck in to our new topic. 🚀
Whilst the Year 4’s are enjoying their swimming lessons, the Y5 children have been learning the skills and techniques needed to play netball. This week the children applied all their skills and enjoyed a game.
Today we enjoyed our first forest school afterschool session. We enjoyed creating wonderful stick creations using coloured wool. Creating their own natural flower vases and potions . A lot of fun was had by all exploring in the grounds of the forest school. Take a look…
3T have been practising their bowling skills in PE today. We discussed the role of a bowler and fielders, working on an over arm throw, ensuring our arms are kept straight, as well as our retrieval skills when bringing the ball back.
Children were led into a story of friendship, courage to be who you want to be and kindness by the characters. Highly engaging singing, dancing and performance mesmerised the audience. Thank you Tair we thoroughly enjoyed your unique storytelling.
4/5WH – PE Netball
This week, we tried to improve our passing, shooting and defending skills. We looked at how you should shoot properly and then combined this into some games.
This week, as part of our learning based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar, pupils used their expressive arts skills to create their own caterpillar pictures. They explored printing techniques using pom poms and coloured paint to create the caterpillar’s body.
This afternoon we enjoyed creating insects out of clay.
To start with we warmed up our fingers and hands by manipulating the clay by pressing , squeezing and patting to help us prepare for our learning and build strength. We each discussed the insects we would create .
Today we participated in the big school work out with Joe Wicks in order to promote mental health and wellbeing .
We shared what we thought it felt like to be healthy and have a good mindset.
We then listened and answered some of the questions online.
Linked to our topic all about minibeasts, this week in our maths learning we have been looking at 2D shapes to recap what they are called whilst learning that they can be rotated and used for multiple purposes. The children each chose their favourite insect to make tangrams.
With me in Mind came in this week and led a workshop on the importance of sleep. The interactive activists and videos enabled us to develop our understanding on how essential it is to support our physical and mental health.
Y2S Before half term we worked with Angie Hardwick, a ceramics artist, to create our own clay turrets. Once the clay turrets had been fired in the kiln it was time to paint. We are so proud of our creations
We were fascinated by David Attenborough and his huge achievement. We began to make our own videos in the style of David Attenborough linked to his work and videos and the time he spent with orangutans. Well done 3/4P.
In REY, we love to explore lots of different resources to help us make marks. Through drawing, painting, chalking and sensory play, we are building up our skills, confidence and our creativity.
