@MobyDickSpoiler For political reasons yeah, but practically speaking all those poorer countries have lots of institutional issues to sort through that Canada doesn’t have as a fully developed state

@rokhannacycle Partially, the no surrender culture was a more modern invention, and Japanese soldiers did surrender more often towards the end.
That said, I agree that the bomb was needed to convince leadership or at least speed the timeline significantly.
