The value of learning life skills, and the value of having peace of mind that a simple maintenance job such as an oil change is completed properly and to your own satisfaction, far outweighs the potential time saved from taking it to a shop, ESPECIALLY a dealership. I say potential, because you're probably going to spend 30 minutes just waiting for your vehicle to get the work started on, which is already about the same amount of time it would've taken you to do it by yourself. And you can't put a price on the peace of mind you'll have from doing it yourself, that you know it was done right, or even done at all. The video of this post very much corroborates that idea. And anecdotally speaking, my sister got an oil change done at a dealership, and I'm pretty sure they didnt tighten the drain plug well enough, because eventually the oil drained, and she needed to get a whole new engine.
But I guess if you're so accomplished in life, you dont really worry about giving your vehicle to some stranger, and trusting them to take care of it like it was their own. I guess I'm just not that accomplished.
