@CambridgeUP
It has been a long journey, starting with my dissertation work in Colombia 10 years ago. I am excited to see it out with a big thank you to colleagues, mentors, and many others who supported the ideas and work.
Please note...There is NO discussion about the notion of the "Black Dandy" WITHOUT the centering of Black queer communities...PERIOD!

"Most Negroes cannot risk assuming that the humanity of white people is more real to them than their color." - James Baldwin (1963) - "The Fire Next Time"
After teaching in colleges for nearly 15 years, I've grown accustomed to what a 20-yr-old student "sounds" like in a paper. It wasn't always pretty or precise, but it was honest; it was them! AI is all up & through their papers now - like Ursula, robbing a cohort of their voices!
From our new article:

do not matter in society is a cause for concern. Beyond the possible consequences for mental health & delinquency, attitudes towards laws & legal authorities are also at stake'

Now published with link (read-only). Feelings of not mattering in society among youth are far too prevalent & very problematic
