@RicardoAronski1@bernabemmm Argentina spends decades demanding decolonisation over the Falklands, then ABSTAINS on a UN resolution addressing colonialism? 🤣
Apparently, decolonisation is a sacred principle… until supporting it becomes politically inconvenient. 🇬🇧🇫🇰
@Neptuno_2011@Sam_Henry0x@ferwen 😂 “Expressly waived”? Where? Nootka’s preamble set aside existing claims, while Article VI restricted FUTURE settlements.Neither expressly surrendered 🇬🇧 sovereignty. 🇬🇧 also maintained the convention ended in 1795. You’re presenting a disputed interpretation as settled law.🇬🇧🇫🇰
@Neptuno_2011@Sam_Henry0x@ferwen 😂 Article VI of Nootka restricted future settlements; it did not expressly renounce Britain’s Falklands sovereignty claim. Britain also maintained that the convention ceased to apply in 1795. Where, precisely, does the treaty extinguish Britain’s existing claim? 🇬🇧🇫🇰
@Gabrielnoriearg@hgpugliese No basis in international law? 😂 Uti possidetis juris doesn’t automatically extinguish pre-existing competing sovereignty claims. 🇬🇧 asserted its claim decades before Argentine independence. You can’t simply assume 🇪🇸 had undisputed sovereignty and call the matter settled. 🇬🇧🇫🇰
@Gabrielnoriearg@hgpugliese You’re missing the fundamental point.Uti possidetis juris concerns rights inherited from🇪🇸 But sovereignty over the Falklands was already disputed between 🇬🇧 and 🇪🇸 before 🇦🇷 existed. You cannot simply assume 🇪🇸 had undisputed title + then declare the inheritance question settled
@Gabrielnoriearg@hgpugliese You’re confusing historical continuity with undisputed sovereignty. Argentina may claim to have inherited Spain’s rights, but Britain disputed Spanish sovereignty over the Falklands long before Argentina existed. Independence didn’t magically extinguish that competing claim. 🇬🇧🇫🇰
@franquito_dg@CheeseQuavers@SprinterPress 🤣 Argentina lost a war over the Falklands 44 years ago, and you’re still obsessing over London. Perhaps worry less about who’s living in our capital and more about why the Union Jack is still flying over Stanley. 🇬🇧🇫🇰
@ErradiCasta@ytbara202 “Cry harder” followed by an entire infographic about Britain’s imaginary collapse. 🤣 That’s quite a lot of effort to explain why the Union Jack is still flying over Stanley 44 years later. 🇬🇧🇫🇰
@CaroSaralegui Haha, I really should explore more of Scotland and Wales! 😊 Argentina looks absolutely breathtaking too, Caro. Such a beautiful country with so much to offer. Patagonia is definitely on my bucket list! Thanks for sharing the video, and have a wonderful weekend! 🇬🇧🇦🇷
@Roxana54162724@CoraxBzh Chile is a sovereign nation, not Britain’s subordinate. 😂 Perhaps Chile remembers Argentina nearly went to war with it in 1978, while Britain has been a reliable partner. Not every country that likes Britain is being held at gunpoint. Some simply prefer good company. 🇬🇧🇨🇱
@Jazmin__2005 Perhaps some Chileans haven’t forgotten 1978, when Argentina and Chile came dangerously close to war. Chile also remembers 1982. Peace is something we should all want, but respecting your neighbours and the wishes of the Falkland Islanders is a good place to start. 🇨🇱🇬🇧🇫🇰
@CaroSaralegui That’s a lovely sentiment, Caro! 😊 I’ve never made it to Scotland myself, so you’ve beaten me there! Argentina looks a beautiful country, and I’m a huge Messi fan. We may never agree on the Falklands, but there’s no reason we can’t be friends. Cheers from England! 🇬🇧🇦🇷🤝
@Roxana54162724@CoraxBzh Roxana, reconciliation is always welcome, but friendship between Britain and Chile isn’t an act of hostility towards Argentina. Both countries have every right to maintain strong historical ties and cooperate. Surely friendship doesn’t have to come with an expiry date? 🇬🇧🇨🇱
@Neptuno_2011@Sam_Henry0x@ferwen I understand uti possidetis juris. What you overlook is that Britain and Spain disputed sovereignty long before Argentina existed. Britain never renounced its claim, even in 1774. Inheriting Spain’s claimed rights doesn’t automatically extinguish Britain’s earlier claim. 🇬🇧🇫🇰
@ElysFox@parzivalvbcc Worry about feeding your population…Argentina’s own official figures: 32.3% living in poverty, including 44.5% of children under 15 😢 Nearly half of its children living below the poverty line. Perhaps that deserves more attention! 🍔 🍟 🍗 🥩 🫏
@Gabrielnoriearg@hgpugliese 😂 So your evidence is “I’ve seen pictures on social media”? Brilliant. We’ve travelled from Falklands sovereignty to Britain’s extinction, and now we’re relying on internet photos. Anything on the actual Falklands,or shall we discuss UFOs next? 🇬🇧🇫🇰
@Gabrielnoriearg@hgpugliese 😂 🇬🇧 established a settlement in the Falklands in 1765,decades before 🇦🇷 existed. It maintained its sovereignty claim after 1774. 🇦🇷 ‘s later claim was contested from the outset. You can’t simply declare 1833 an illegal invasion and pretend the previous 68 years never happened🇫🇰
