Today I learned schools were created to enslave the brightest minds by promising the prestige of specialization so they remained narrow minded and didn’t overthrow the rulers by learning in a big-picture general sense.

The Great Pirates – who had high proficiency in many things like navigation, storms, biology, geography, the men, the ship, economics, history, and science – surrounded themselves with loyal yet dumb illiterates because they realized bright people were the only ones who could overtake them.

The pirates, when docked, would have the rulers notify them when a bright mind would spring up. They had the rulers assign them specialized study material to become something prestigious like the “Royal Historian” or “Royal Treasurer,” and just like that, their potential for greatness was extinguished.

Explains why specialization is still highly encouraged and why “high paying jobs” are the first thing on teenagers minds when thinking about what to do with their future.
