@MikeMeehallWood Overall you are right the PL wealth gives them a generally advantage over other European leagues which is usually reflected in overall tallies of match results. (Best not to mention man united!!)
@MikeMeehallWood I take your point Mike but I think AC Milan run a higher wage bill than Bournemouth. And in this game they had a player sent off at 1-0 and palace , Sunderland and Brighton all failed to beat teams from weaker leagues. Isolated matches won’t prove much.
@jsentsportlover Leicester did it for a season too once upon a time. That was a based on statistically freak occurrences. Brighton is based on highly skilled data based recruitment masterminded by genius Tony Bloom
Commentary around the NRL proposed deal in 2026 seems similar to the IMG discourse in 2022.
Game doomed if it doesn't happen, overly optimistic thoughts about what it could bring etc.
The reality? Brings opportunities but not a given they are realised / not a silver bullet.
There’s loads of vacuous spouting from NRL shills who will tell you the NRL will solve every problem in Super League, the ENG national team + are a shade of odds on to bring about world peace by 2030. If you want something more rational + nuanced try this…
ICYMI - England's World Cup hopes lie in tatters after just one match. There is evidence that several nations are accelerating ahead of us. How do we arrest the decline?

@MikeMeehallWood It’s handicap betting only to all intents and purposes. Quite tricky with big starts. May come down to the odd conversion kicked or missed
There are many asking these kind of questions. NRL shills will dismiss those asking as rabidly anti NRL or some such. Agnostics aren’t anti religion. They want actual evidence.
As a contrarian who always seeks to challenge group think I’d like to see some actual details, terms + conditions etc before getting over excited sbout NRL proposals Some seem very keen to stick their hands up blindfold + are convinced the problems of SL/ENG will be solved
Wise words. Just shouting SL is crap ENG are useless. The NRL is the only answer. The messiah that’ll save northern hemisphere RL doesn’t help at all for mine
I agree, and that’s precisely why I wouldn’t advocate mergers as the solution. Rugby league clubs have generations of history, identity and community support behind them. You can’t simply merge clubs and expect supporters to embrace a new identity.
I don’t believe the NRL needs to reinvent Super League or create rugby league’s equivalent of The Hundred. It needs to strengthen the competition that already exists through better governance, commercial investment, financial accountability and player development.
The challenge for V’landys isn’t necessarily restructuring the clubs. It’s creating a sustainable business model that allows those clubs to grow and become commercially viable while preserving what makes English rugby league unique.
