I know Mike McCarthy & Patrick Graham have talked about sticking with the '3-4' here in Pittsburgh, but I wonder how much base 3-4 they're really going to run this season...
They certainly have the personnel to essentially base out of a big nickel package with Jalen Ramsey (one of the best run defending DBs in the game) to essentially play a hybrid LB/Slot role (similar to what Nick Emmanwori plays for Seattle & Derwin James plays for LA).
Obviously that would mean PIT would play with a lot more 4-man fronts as opposed to the 5-man fronts in their base 3-4, which I think benefits Keeanu Benton's skillset more than playing him as a true nose tackle, especially because I would expect Heyward & Harmon would be the interior D-Lineman on early downs with Benton rotating in on passing downs & when Cam needs a break especially.
I know this Steelers defense has disappointed in recent seasons, but I love the way Graham is constructing this group. With all the talent in the secondary & the pass rush, this unit will have a chance to be special in 2026 if PG knows what the hell he's doing (which I think he does).
BREAKING: The #Steelers are signing former #Panthers standout RB Rico Dowdle, per multiple sources.
Dowdle has had back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons and now finds a new home.
