NEW: Buried within the Senate Intelligence Authorization Act is a provision to increase intelligence sharing with Israel and impede the president's ability to reduce cooperation in the future.
@el_whitener@MrAndyNgo@Benleo You don't know what you are talking about. If the Qing Dynasty knew how to govern and run a modern economy none of this shit would have happened.
@el_whitener@MrAndyNgo@Benleo The principles of Free Trade were upheld as sacred back then. The Qing Dynasty was totally incompetent and venal. Chinese merchants bought the opium. The British government and people were horrified by the trade until powerful banks swayed public opinion using patriotic drivel
@KosinskiKen@AppleTexSupport@NgendoMbugua@Mofobian@elonmusk But, as has been said, the military prowess of Britain won them nothing. They were publically scorned by the United Nations. The USA (rightly) did not support this absurd venture by the British/French which they hatched secretly behind the back of the USA.
@AppleTexSupport@NgendoMbugua@KosinskiKen@Mofobian@elonmusk I agree 100%. I worry that we will find ourselves in a position, that for economic, diplomatic, political or even military reasons requires us to walk away. That I don't want to even contemplate.
The Suez Crisis was an easy victory for Britain and then it went to shit!
@AppleTexSupport@NgendoMbugua@KosinskiKen@Mofobian@elonmusk The British crushed the Egyptian forces and seized the Suez Canal. They won militarily but had to back down when Khruschev (USSR) threatened Britain and France with a nuclear war. The USA did not back Britain. Britain was humiliated and left.
