The story weighed on me and I thought about all the coal barges going down the river. Who mined the coal in those barges and what’s their story?.... That’s how Roll River was created and this song is a testament to the strength of a story told through music.

“Roll River Roll ” is inspired by a conversation I had with a radio station host, Luke Church. While we were talking I shared about my short stint as a coal miner and Luke told me about his father and how he had died in a mining accident.
