Nearly 56 million people in Britain were born in the UK, yet political parties still seem obsessed with parachuting candidates into safe seats who have little connection to the communities they’re supposed to represent. An MP should have grassroots in the area, a history there, know the streets, the schools, the businesses and the problems ordinary people face. They should earn the trust of the constituency, not simply arrive with the right party badge and inherit a safe seat. This country needs representatives with genuine local roots who will fight for the people who actually live there, not career politicians selected because Westminster thinks the seat is guaranteed. Stop treating communities like political property. Local people deserve local representation. Britain deserves better.
