I fully support the action Houston ISD Superintendent House is taking to require masks in schools. I hope that more will do the same, despite the state of Texas edict against masks in schools. It’s a moment of necessary civil disobedience. Children's lives are literally at risk.
Some talk about “personal responsibility” in schools but, as government leaders, we’re responsible for the safety of those we serve. Our responsibility extends beyond the “personal.” We can’t just tell Texas children they’re on their own. Schools need to require masks.
BREAKING: Miami’s School Superintendent hits back at DeSantis: “I won’t allow my decision to be influenced by a threat to my paycheck, a small price to pay considering the gravity of this issue and the threat to the health of our students.” RT IF YOU’RE WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT!
Right now we’re staring down a perfect storm: large swaths of unvaccinated people, lax masking and social distancing, and dangerous COVID19 variants. Help us fight back. Get vaccinated. Wear your mask.
I just bought tickets to All the Devils Are Here: A Tempest in the Galapagos 2021 - Livestream: Saturday, May 15 at 5:00 PM, at @matchouston https://t.co/GiBrdA0qsm
I'm honored to be the first Texan to win the @emilyslist Rising Star Award, and thankful to the Texans who made it possible. Special thanks to everyone who voted and to all the people and organizations who helped us spread the word.
Dear @POTUS & @VP, you are correct, gun violence is out of control in our Nation. The American people desperately need our court system to get back up to full speed and criminals engaging in gun violence need to be held accountable. Justice needs to be fair, certain and timely.
During President @JoeBiden’s first 100 days, the economy has created more than 1 million jobs, more than 200 million shots have been administered, and we’re on our way to cutting child poverty in half. And as we saw last night, this is just the beginning.
In 2021, we find ourselves again fighting bills filed in legislatures across this country that would restrict/suppress the right of people to vote. Jim Crow 2.0. SB 7 and HB 6 are a part of a national campaign to restrict people’s right to vote.
Last year, Harris County broke turnout records for voters of all persuasions, and became a model for how to run safe, secure, and convenient elections. Now, TX legislators are working to suppress votes by stopping those reforms. We can’t let them. Stand up. Join the march.
No one is really against making voting more convenient...They’re against more people voting. The attacks on voting rights in Texas hurts ALL voters, and we should all be outraged.
If your reason for opposing DC statehood is that it is too small and has a lopsided partisan tilt, then somebody let Wyoming know its days are numbered.
25 people died in Harris County in the Texas winter storm.
Many of these people would have lived with proper energy grid regulation.
We can’t forget or forgive. We must demand reforms from our legislators now.
We stand together to #StopAsianHate. Many thanks to all our community leaders for showing your support of the community at this difficult and tragic time.
Texas Senate Bill 7 isn't about "election integrity." It just makes it harder to vote. That's it.
STOPS: voting after 7PM.
ENDS: Drive-thru voting
PREVENTS: People with a disability from having accommodations without medical documentation.
Don't let them tell you otherwise.
SB7 is a poll tax. It bars people with disabilities from voting with the accommodations they need, unless they “prove” their disability through medical documentation. To require people to make medical expenditures to vote is a poll tax. Also, almost 20% of Texans are uninsured.
