Phat Joe returns to TV for βThe Morning Cupβ on SuperSport
SuperSport is set to transform morning television during the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the launch of The Morning Cup, a live daily breakfast show blending football, culture, music and entertainment in a pan-African format.
Premiering on 11 June, the show will be anchored by SuperSport presenters Lwazi Ziqubu and Fiso Mazibuko, alongside a star-studded cast including Phat Joe, Nigerian comedian Basketmouth, Kenyan actress Sarah Hassan and Egyptian-Jamaican presenter Sirayah Shiraz.
Phat Joe said returning to television for a global audience felt like stepping into something historic.
βLook, anytime you get a call from SuperSport to do a show for a billion people, you answer,β he said.
βBut when it's for a brand-new show with a fresh format and a pan-African cast of hosts? That's not just a gig, that's an invitation to be part of something special.β
He added that the showβs relaxed tone sets it apart from traditional sports broadcasting.
βThe Morning Cup feels like it's waking up with you, family fun every morning with your favourite personalities during the World Cup,β Joe said.
Known for his sharp humour, he also joked about the chemistry among the cast.
βSarah Hassan is a math nerdβ¦ Basketmouth is probably going to try and re-kick-start his rap career againβ¦ The only cast member I like is Sirayah,β he quipped.
The Morning Cup airs daily from 10 June at 07:00β08:00 CAT on SuperSportβs FIFA World Cup Central (DStv channel 203, Nigeria channel 223), with replays and streaming available on DStv Stream and GOtv platforms.
