Riyadh is moving its oil closer to its customers, because it no longer trusts its own exits.

Saudi Arabia will store crude in Singapore's underground rock caverns from the second half of 2027. Aramco did the same in Okinawa in 2017 and in South Korea's Ulsan in 2023, so the new part is the timing, with Hormuz under fire and the Houthis claiming strikes on Riyadh's airport.

Singapore gets Saudi oil sitting in its caverns for any emergency of its own. Not a bad deal for a city with no oil.

The two ministers call it a new phase of cooperation. And who pays for the tankers getting there in the meantime? By the end of 2027, I expect India or China to ask Riyadh for the same arrangement.

SCOOP - Qatar would construct two power plants in Lebanon and sign a 20-year liquefied natural gas supply deal under a proposal to revive the ailing Lebanese power sector, a document seen by Reuters showed.

The plan - which still requires approval - includes:
- New combined-cycle plants at Deir Ammar & Zahrani, 825 MW each
- QatarEnergy 20-year LNG supply agreement
- FSRU
- 800 MW solar, 440 MW wind

Lebanon has had many power plans that went nowhere due to political bickering and vested interests of politicians. Will this one be different?

انتزاع السوق الأوروبية من أمريكا.

أوروبا تستورد سنوياً
20 مليون طن من الديزل.
وتركيا 13.6 مليون طن.

عشرات الملايين من الأطنان
في أسواق قريبة من العراق وسوريا.
لكنها تستورد الوقود من أمريكا والهند وروسيا.

المفارقة أن العراق يمتلك النفط،
وسوريا تمتلك الساحل على المتوسط،
وأوروبا تمتلك سوقاً ضخمة تحتاج إلى الوقود.

ما ينقص هذه المعادلة هو مشروع واحد:

مصفاة عراقية ـ سورية مشتركة
على الساحل السوري،
تكرّر جزءاً من النفط العراقي،
وتحوّله إلى ديزل وكيروسين،
ثم تصدّره إلى أوروبا وتركيا.

عندها،
العراق سيتحول إلى أحد
كبار مصدّري الوقود في العالم.
وسوريا تصبح أحد أهم مراكز
تكرير النفط وتجارة الطاقة.

من يمتلك البئر والمصفاة والميناء
يحول صناعة النفط ... إلى صناعة نفوذ.
