Don’t forget that on a defense that had Patrick Willis, Justin Smith, Aldon Smith, Bowman, etc.
Opposing RBs/WRs feared S Donte Whitner. They started calling him HITner🤯
He was a DAWG on the #49ers.
So very sad to announce the passing of a legend, Joshua James Mauro. Josh was a founder and leader of the “Party In the Backfield”.
During his time at Stanford, Mauro was a key contributor to a stifling defense that anchored back-to-back Pac-12 titles in 2012 and 2013, winning one Rose Bowl. He earned the nickname "Bull in a China Shop" from defensive coordinator Derek Mason for his disruptive play.
Total Collegiate Stats: He finished his Stanford career with 81 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and two forced fumbles across 48 games.
Josh played for the Cardinals, Jaguars, Giants, and Raiders. In 80 career NFL games, Mauro recorded 130 tackles and 5 sacks
Mauro's family announced that he passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026. The Stanford football community and former teammates have shared tributes, remembering him as a "beloved teammate" and a "force on the field".
Go rest high on that mountain, Joshua. 🪽
I evaluated the last 4 years of John Lynch drafts
his performance:
2023: #31
2024: #28
2025: #31
2026: #32
after the draft, Lynch claimed he knows better than everyone else
the data shows he doesn’t
I went thru every single "reach" he made
it's gross

I have no fucking idea what the San Francisco 49ers are doing in this draft. This is laughably bad.
Three picks, three reaches. It makes no sense.
