@JoeMillerAS1@KatharineBeals @ABA4ALL_UK @ShanonB2019 @Rev_Rom_C @ekverstania@neondiet @ja54kki @iMultitudes@AutisticPb@LUC_autism@theautismcafe The overall effect on me: my marriage went c*nt-up, my body bits started to fail (thyroid, metabolic system, heart, bone joints); I accrued more psych dxs:
- anxiety NOS
- pervasive somatic reaction to severe stress
- persistent reactive mood disorder
- PTSD (sus)
It's been hell.
@JoeMillerAS1@KatharineBeals @ABA4ALL_UK @ShanonB2019 @Rev_Rom_C @ekverstania@neondiet @ja54kki @iMultitudes@AutisticPb@LUC_autism@theautismcafe Ours is pretty high, too. We don't have much in the way of stats yet - the other associations haven't done any surveys on this topic and the government just has never been inclined to do anything: they'd have to do something about it if they did the stats, and they're too lazy.
The Good Friday Agreement is the bedrock of peace in Northern Ireland. If the U.K. violates its international agreements & Brexit undermines the Good Friday accord, there will be absolutely no chance of a U.S.-U.K. trade agreement passing the Congress. https://t.co/n7E4GHTJcI
In 2017, the Finnish Autism Spectrum Association (250 members) surveyed its members and 50 responses came in. Only one person was not themself autistic. Of those:
33.3% - in work
33.3% - not in work
21.4% - unable to work
rest - not known.

@JoeMillerAS1@KatharineBeals @ABA4ALL_UK @ShanonB2019 @Rev_Rom_C @ekverstania@neondiet @ja54kki @iMultitudes@AutisticPb@LUC_autism@theautismcafe This is what she had to say. It really is attrocious. Finland has a serious 'dust-bin' mentality, when it comes to anybody with any sort of disability/handicap. I shall link after this tweet an overview of the research done by the small association to which I belong. Tells much.
@JoeMillerAS1@KatharineBeals @ABA4ALL_UK @ShanonB2019 @Rev_Rom_C @ekverstania@neondiet @ja54kki @iMultitudes@AutisticPb@LUC_autism@theautismcafe not just 'not a problem' but was actually an acceptable thing to do.
From the get-go, the Finnish Labour Ministry office was hell-bent on setting me up for failure. The actually behaved in a way that prevented me from getting an actual job. More in a third thread on this.
@JoeMillerAS1@KatharineBeals @ABA4ALL_UK @ShanonB2019 @Rev_Rom_C @ekverstania@neondiet @ja54kki @iMultitudes@AutisticPb@LUC_autism@theautismcafe Fairly recent research found that foreigners' applications for jobs don't even get responded to, let alone considered; an Yle poll some years ago found that 70-80% of Finns think that the job should always go to a Finn, regardless of qualification: they thought discrimination was
Brexit is a cult beyond reason; more like a religion than a serious policy initiative. To see that this is true, it just has to be noted that in Brexitier ideology EVERYTHING is the EXACT OPPOSITE to what it is claimed to be. EVERYTHING! 1/
@JoeMillerAS1@KatharineBeals @ABA4ALL_UK @ShanonB2019 @Rev_Rom_C @ekverstania@neondiet @ja54kki @iMultitudes@AutisticPb@LUC_autism@theautismcafe cause the heart failure that could have been diagnosed in 2009. This happened because they did not check to see if I did in fact have asthma. I actually had to battle with my GP just to get a cardiology meett.
I don't think this is the behaviour of a world-class health service.
@JoeMillerAS1@KatharineBeals @ABA4ALL_UK @ShanonB2019 @Rev_Rom_C @ekverstania@neondiet @ja54kki @iMultitudes@AutisticPb@LUC_autism@theautismcafe For another thing: it professes to be good at health care.
I lost a lot of years of life expectancy because, for 15+ years, they were treating me for asthma that I never had rather than treating me for the metabolic syndrome that could have been diagnosed in 2001 that went on to
