i really thought that by now, as a fan of a 2nd gen group, we would all be accepting of our almost 40yo idols' romantic relationships. but sadly some are still holding onto unhealthy parasocial attachments. have that checked please.
imagine being harry styles and hearing the crowd SING during your dance break AND NOT KNOWING WTF THEIR SINGING and somehow it seems to be getting louder every night
what i find so creepy about reactions to idols dating is that i really don't think its parasocialism but "we spend so much money on you and this is how you repay us" mindset which i find so much more sinister than anything in fan else spaces
Why are the Black members of Soulidified constantly targeted, even in their own YouTube comments? They’ve been body-shamed, called desperate, labeled “visual holes,” subjected to ageism, and hit with just about every insult in the book. One loser even went as far as whitewashing a photo of the members just to make their racism clear. This is not okay in any way, shape, or form.
Soulidified has a bigger message behind them. They’ve called themselves disruptors, and that comes with challenging certain norms and breaking barriers. But there comes a point where the constant targeting and negativity can take a toll and it can potentially affect the group internally, too.
POC members in groups should not have to work twice as hard just to receive the same recognition and respect.
You don’t have to like every member. You don’t even have to like the group. But you do have to remember that these are human beings first and artists second.
Anyway, go stream “Man Ain’t Me” because, “it’s clear to see” that some of y’all need to focus less on tearing them apart and more on appreciating what they’re actually here to do: which is make music! Link ⬇️
