A few years ago, Ashu had a high-paying corporate job in London, earning millions. Saurav was writing about the country’s legal system and living a great life. Both had successful careers, financial security and every reason to continue living the lives they had built for themselves.

But they chose to give it all up in the hope of making this country a better place. They had absolutely no reason to leave behind their comfortable lives, take to the streets, face uncertainty and eventually end up in jail. Yet they did.

What I admire most about these two is that despite coming from privileged backgrounds, they chose to fight for those who aren’t as fortunate. They could have easily looked the other way, enjoyed their lives and never bothered about the struggles of people they had never even met. Nobody asked them to make these sacrifices. Nobody expected them to. But they did, because they genuinely care about people beyond themselves.

And to me, that is the greatest quality a human being can have. To stand up for people you don’t know, to fight battles that aren’t your own, and to risk everything you have so that someone else might have a better life.

That’s the kind of people Ashu and Saurav are.

ज्ञानेश कुमार को लगा था कि SIR के नाम पर करोड़ों लोगों के वोट काट देंगे। जो कहानी सुनाएँगे, जनता सुनकर सो जाएगी? पश्चिम बंगाल चुनाव के लिए समय नहीं था मगर SIR करना ही था। प्रक्रियाओं और सुप्रीम कोर्ट के आदेश की आड़ में वोट छीनने के अपराध से बच नहीं सकते। शर्म आनी चाहिए कि उनके इस्तीफ़े, SIR रद्द करने की माँग को लेकर जनता सड़क पर है। पिछले साल राहुल गांधी ने शालीन शब्दों में महादेवपुरा और अलंद में वोट चोरी का उदाहरण दिया था तब ज्ञानेश कूमार प्रेस कांफ्रेंस करने आए और राहुल गांधी से हलफनामा और माफीनामा मांगने लगे थे। इस बार राहुल गांधी ज्ञानेश कुमार को चोर बोल रहे हैं, ज्ञानेश कुमार चुप हैं। क्योंकि जनता को चोरी की यह कहानी समझ आ गई है। यह दिन भी देखना था। चुनाव आयुक्त इस देश के हीरो हुआ करते थे, आज उन्हें चोर कहा जा रहा है।

Yesterday, the nation's young came out in Delhi to peacefully protest. They came with love in their hearts, not hatred or anger. They were beaten, both by cops and BJP goons.

Tomorrow, we will march to the Supreme Court as Indians, united beyond party, gender, caste, community and state.

Youth, all opposition parties, civil society groups, all those who believe in democracy and stand by the Constitution of India, will walk with us.

We will submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice on behalf of the nation, demanding an end to vote chori, halting of SIR and the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.

Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Ajit Doval and Mohan Bhagwat cannot silence India's voice. These cowards cannot intimidate us. They will have to step aside.

We will march together, with love, brotherhood and patriotism.

कल दिल्ली में देश का युवा शांतिपूर्ण विरोध के लिए सड़कों पर उतरा। उनके दिलों में नफ़रत या गुस्सा नहीं, मोहब्बत थी। लेकिन उन्हें पुलिस और BJP के गुंडों, दोनों ने पीटा।

ऐसा भारत हम नहीं चाहते।

कल, सोमवार 12 अक्टूबर को, हम भारतीय होने के नाते सुप्रीम कोर्ट तक मार्च करेंगे। पार्टी, महिला-पुरुष, जाति, समुदाय और राज्य की हर दीवार से ऊपर उठकर, हम सब एक साथ चलेंगे।

देश का युवा, तमाम विपक्षी दल, सिविल सोसाइटी और लोकतंत्र में विश्वास रखने वाले, भारत के संविधान के साथ खड़े सभी लोग हमारे साथ चलेंगे।

नरेंद्र मोदी, अमित शाह, अजित डोभाल और मोहन भागवत भारत की आवाज़ को दबा नहीं सकते। ये कायर हमें डरा नहीं सकते। इन्हें पीछे हटना ही होगा।
हम सब साथ चलेंगे - मोहब्बत, भाईचारे और देशभक्ति के साथ।

काश सुप्रीम कोर्ट को नज़र आता।अदालत पूछती कि जहाँ हज़ारों सुरक्षाबल तैनात थे वहाँ ये बल कहाँ से आए? कैसे आ गए? ये कहाँ हैं? इनकी सेवा किसने ली? सरकार प्रदर्शन को अराजक बना रही है मगर ये भाजक कौन हैं जो बच्चों को बुरी तरह मार रहा है। इनके दम पर SIR के फ्रॉड का जवाब दिया जा रहा है? तो इन्हीं को बना दो चुनाव आयुक्त ।

अमित शाह की दिल्ली पुलिस खुद तो गुंडागर्दी पर उतर ही आई - RSS-BJP के असली गुंडों को भी महिलाओं और युवाओं पर हिंसा करने की खुली छूट और बढ़ावा दे रही है।

हम डरने वाले नहीं हैं। पीछे हटने वाले नहीं हैं। ये लड़ाई अब रुकने वाली नहीं है!

सोमवार को हम मुख्य न्यायाधीश से भी मिलेंगे और मांग करेंगे कि जब दिल्ली की सड़कों पर संविधान को तार-तार किया जा रहा है और लोकतंत्र को कुचला जा रहा है, तब कानून के संरक्षक आंखों पर पट्टी डाल कर नहीं बैठ सकते।

संविधान की धज्जियां उड़ेंगी और हम चुप बैठेंगे? ऐसा हरगिज़ नहीं होगा। जवाबदेही तय करवाकर रहेंगे!
