The amount of negativity being directed at @shahidkapoor over a clearly misconstrued statement is extremely unfair. Anyone with a basic grasp of the simple language he spoke in would understand that he was responding to questions around ‘trolling’ as a topic. He wasn’t questioning cinephiles or the audiences of his films at all.

Yet, what baffles me is that many folks chose outrage over understanding. Trolling has become the internet’s easiest weapon, often ignoring the real impact it can have on someone’s mental health. It is very easy to sit behind a screen and attack, but impossible to truly understand the effort, years of work, and craft of the person you are targeting. Twisting context to fuel hate says more about YOU than it does about HIM.

Maybe it’s time we listen better before we react ✌🏼
