August marked ICP’s second-best month for earnings since Genesis.

Like roughly 99% of blockchains, internet-computer:native is not yet profitable. The difference is that expenses have been falling quickly thanks to M70.

Last month’s loss came in at $3.9 million. For context:

2021: –$202.2M
2022: –$27.8M
2023: –$13.1M
2024: –$20.9M
2025: –$7.4M
2026: –$3.9M

Given ICP’s tokenomics, there is only so much further expenses can be cut — they are already quite low. The path to profitability therefore runs through a meaningful increase in revenue.

I’ll continue tracking these figures and share updates as they develop.

Since early 2024, DFINITY has been working with a private bank in Switzerland to improve customer onboarding, KYC, and AML processes. ICP technology helps banks collect signatures and verify information in a faster, more secure way.

Apps built on the Internet Computer can support traditional finance and help banks upgrade their systems to be private and secure by default.

The move to ISO 20022 is a big improvement for banks — but not for ICP. ICP is already far beyond what ISO 20022 enables, so this update isn’t surprising.

Important Privacy News: some Internet Computer (ICP) nodes have started leveraging special privacy hardware on the node machines (SEV-SNP/TEE tech).

Whats cool — even if someone gains *physical access* to these node machines, they will only find encrypted bytes inside.
