"No, Mercy" - a Sci-Fi/Action/Comedy written and directed by M.J. Romanowski.
When her bounty hunter husband is sidelined, Mercy McCain takes a job to pay the bills: Bring in their old "friend" Squirrel. But nothing’s simple when Squirrel's involved. Their future isn’t shiny.
Seedance 2.0 test for young Lucy (a teen in university accelerated program circa 2018) with character and backpack reference. For a short about a mass shooting.
The previs workflow is still leveling up!
My AI filmmaking process is starting to feel less like wrangling AI and more like animation.
Still just cubes in Blender, but now I’m moving the character through space and doing a handheld camera follow.
Same basic process:
1. Generate a start frame in Midjourney
2. Block out the scene in Blender, animate the camera
3. Feed both to Seedance
Seedance nailed the gritty handheld feel and followed the character movement around the car way better than expected.
You can get way more ambitious with your directing than I thought.
I knew once quality was where it needed to be, costs were already there. That literally EVERYONE blowing
Millions on production would fold. Nothing affects change more than your money choices.
AI is way past the point of no return now.. 🔥🔥🔥
@KeyTryer The anti-data center stuff is for the populist left what the antivax stuff is for the populist right. For me, it is a useful signal that a person shouldn't be trusted.
Patrice O'Neal: "I had to learn to stop caring about people not laughing. Because the the idea of Comedy really is not 'everybody should be laughing.' It should be about 50 people laughing, and 50 people horrified." https://t.co/TUCunAXmL2

It's absolutely nuts to go around saying "Usage of every copyrighted material in the world is fair use", and then turn around and go "taking distributions of text from our model to make other models better is unacceptable and unfair!"
discourse is hilarious because at this point luddites will never ever get "AI" is mostly just tensor math & Pytorch/Transformers, there's no convincing them that it's not collaging anything, they truly believe every single "AI" pixel comes from an existing "stolen" one and water
As an Old Guy who tries to keep up with what's going on in tech I'm finding it hard writing modern/near-future fiction. Like I'm writing a hacker character with an AI assistant but realized I wrote the other hackers as not having their own? My writer brain is still in 2010. My alt-history/retrofuture project is easier, I don't have to worry about that stuff when everyone's using CRTs and the USSR still exists.
it's annoying that ai in pretty much all of sci-fi makes no sense anymore. many of these systems are worse than current state-of-the-art models, and they underestimate how widely accessible they are to regular people.
love internet history like this. also what a forgotten fun fact that might be hard to believe today:
“In 2007, 4chan was dominantly "Howard Stern liberal." Being offensive, outrageous, and highly speech-tolerant used to be identified with leftist, avant-garde identity.”
