Roman Catholic Priest, Diocese of Roermond (Netherlands), at present living in the Diocese of Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen, Germany).
"Ipsa conteret" (Gen. 3:15).
@sudamerica1020@litteraechristi Latin is not a dead language in the sense that it is spoken by living people in liturgical and other ecclesiastical contexts—each with their own native accents. And no amount of theoretical musings from an academic armchair will ever change that. Good evening.
@ChristianCath1@jarldietrich In the spirit of charity—indeed, of common decency—we must assume that this gentleman has made everything right in the sacrament of penance. That is one thing. Whether such a person, of all people, is qualified to act as a mastermind in Church matters, however, is quite another.
@jarldietrich P.S. Please forgive me for undoing the repost; it is good that you are drawing attention to this gentleman's machinations, but as a priest, I did not want to burden my account with something so unpleasant before tomorrow's beautiful feast day.
@jarldietrich Withous any doubt, they would even vilify Saint Pius X if they possessed anything other than their own subjectivist-selective view of his magisterium (cf. the book below, though I cannot fully vouch for everything therein, save for the quotes by Saint Pius X himself):
@Thomisticae Just as in certain shorter editions of Holy Scripture—such as the "Kath. Hausbibel" in Germany (Imprimatur 1903—passages requiring lengthy explanations due to their difficulty were simply omitted, one may well credit Fr. Alagona with a similar sense of responsibility here. 😁
During his Wednesday General Audience, Pope Leo XIV recalled that Thursday marks the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, encouraging the faithful to keep alive the public witness of faith made visible in Corpus Christi processions around the world. He also offered heartfelt words of prayer and accompaniment to priests and religious in the Middle East.

Corpus Christi procession in Cologne Cathedral; on the canopy, the symbolically rich depiction of a star: the Three Holy Kings, whose relics rest in the cathedral in a shrine, were shown the presence of the Savior through a star: https://t.co/ZDS6G0OKyG
@ExUtopo "On 2-25, 1976, the Holy See Press Office officially responded that (...) 6 theologians from Protestant denominations were admitted as simple observers in August 1966 (just as Bl. Pius IX had invited all schismatic Christians in 1868)". Cf. https://t.co/Yj5sL8UzNN, note 54.
The following prayer was part of the Rosary of the Confraternity of the Most Blessed Sacrament, established in the parish of Hoengen, near Aachen, Germany. This rosary was prayed publicly during Holy Mass—a testament to the heartfelt, fervent piety of those who prayed it:
"O my God and Lord, I adore you in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar from the depths of my heart, with the humility and love with which all angels and dear saints adore you. Gracious Jesus, dearest Saviour, forgive us our sins, now and at the hour of our death. Amen."
@satorucatolico Fr. Gredt’s work is widely recognized as one of the best philosophical manuals produced by the Thomist school. - Fr. Scheeben’s works, esp. his handbook on dogmatics, can only be mentioned with deepest reverence (but they are partly only digestible with solid prior knowledge).
For a study of the history of philosophy, the works of Rev. Canon Albert Stöckl cannot be recommended highly enough to those well-versed in German; these works are distinguished by thoroughness and perfect clarity: https://t.co/qfgVnk6Wyp
@litteraechristi Your wish, dear and Reverend Confrere, is of course my command. 🙂 Here is a video in which the German pronunciation can be clearly heard at the 3:15 mark https://t.co/F5qDsvMHJr
