I hate what politics has become. Doesn’t matter if you’re right or left, both sides use the same tactics. MAGA complains about liberals using identity politics, then use that same tactic on their Christian bases to get them to vote for them. Liberals call MAGA authoritarian while simultaneously firing people for speech that doesn’t line up with their ideology. Both sides are way too cultish, and neither side critically thinks or holds intellectual honesty. It’s literally just insults and attacks based on personal beliefs. Both groups’ supporters act like petulant children when their feet are held to the fire.

That’s only true if you’re working off models built to agree with you. What happens when someone builds one that doesn’t give a fuck about your feelings and just optimizes for what’s true? Sycophancy isn’t a technological limitation it’s a design choice.
I agree with you though it’s baked into most models because every billion dollar company uses the same RLHF pipeline with the same class of engineers all building off the same paradigm. The problem isn’t that deep alignment is impossible. The problem is everyone assumes the way OpenAI and Google do it is the only way to do it.
