“Honestly, this situation is becoming much more serious than people thought. How can you deprive a player of achieving his dream and then treat him badly on top of that? At this point, it feels like you are holding someone captive. I have never seen a club as big as Atlético Madrid handle a situation this embarrassingly. How can you enjoy keeping a player who clearly doesn’t want to be there anymore? Julián is unhappy, and you can see it in his game. I watched him today and honestly felt sorry for him.

Football is supposed to be played with happiness, freedom and a smile. When that happiness disappears, forcing someone to stay becomes pointless. That is why I actually liked seeing Julián not thank the fans after the game. He should stand his ground and keep chasing his dream. If contract termination is what helps him escape this situation, I would not blame him for taking that step.

Julián Álvarez is a player everyone loves watching. He is a fantastic talent, and seeing him go through this is painful. He cannot be happy at Atlético anymore, and surely the president knows that. So why keep him? If a player has lost his happiness, what are you trying to achieve? Julián deserves better and should do whatever it takes to change his situation. This should also warn young players to choose their clubs carefully. Sometimes you need to stop being too polite and start thinking like Zlatan.”

The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public. 

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.
