A Media investigation has found that Anthony Kila, pro-chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, has long presented himself as a professor and "Jean Monnet Professor of Strategy and Development," despite never being awarded either title by any recognised institution. Kila claimed the non-existent "European Centre for Advanced and Professional Studies" conferred his professorship, while the EU's Jean Monnet programme confirmed he's never held that role.
Investigators also found nine of 22 works on his Google Scholar profile weren't authored by him, with none of his genuine publications traceable to any reputable peer-reviewed journal. MCIU has yet to directly address the findings, while his CIAPS website was taken offline after being confronted with the evidence.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says Nigeria has moved past three years of economic correction into a new era focused on shared and widespread prosperity. In his Independence Day address marking 66 years since the flag was first raised, he told Nigerians the foundations of the economy have been repaired, pointing to growth above 4 percent, reduced oil theft, falling inflation, rebuilt reserves and a more stable foreign-exchange market.
Tinubu also highlighted over $6 billion in non-oil export revenue recorded in 2025, declaring the country's direction clear. "Our destination is in sight. Our foundations are strong. Our direction is clear. So let us go forward. No looking back," he said.
