Time for my annual…Ode to College Softball

I love College Football…I love College Softball. As my favorite comedian Brian Regan would say, “Both favorites.” But, if I’m being honest with myself, College Softball might be a little more favorite. It is really fun to watch. To see these incredible athletes compete at the highest level is awesome! They play with passion on every play. They celebrate and encourage their teammates with a pure joy for the game. They don’t flop, they don’t talk trash, they don’t argue calls, they just compete. They’re tough. When they get hurt, they rub some dirt on it and then look at the ump like, “what are you waiting on…let’s go!” When they make a mistake, their teammates rally around them. When they hit a bomb or go “full Superman” to steal a base hit, their teammates explode with emotion. When they win, they jump around. When they lose, they cry…for their teammates. College Softball is what sports is suppose to be.

I love my Oklahoma Sooners Softball team, as they reflect everything I described above. But, with very very few exceptions, I see this on every Women’s College Softball team. They will do anything for their teammates, while simultaneously respecting their opponents.

If you’re not a College Softball fan, you’re missing out!
