Trust is the one thing a public-health system cannot manufacture in the middle of a crisis. It can only spend the trust it has already earned.
And the fastest way to burn through that trust is to project absolute confidence, silence critics, get caught being wrong, and then issue the correction in a whisper months later or never at al.
Do that often enough, and eventually they will create exactly what we have now: a country that instinctively distrusts official certainty, even in moments when the authorities may finally be telling the truth.
That may prove to be the most damaging legacy of the entire pandemic era.

Did some airplane travel this week- the number of people back to wearing masks over hantavirus and Ebola is truly shocking.
I feel sad for the people who live their lives in fear over over-hyped, extremely rare diseases.
People, so fearful that they can't go out in public or travel without masks...
I pity them, I worry for their mental health, I even worry for our country that has so many guillible people - but these poor fools are not my enemy.

We shouldn't even acknowledge these people.

The Trump supporters that remain are mentally too far gone.

In 2016 I supported Trump.

Straight MAGA.

In 2020 I supported Trump but I started to wonder if he best represented me.

In 2024 I supported Ron DeSantis in the primary but when Trump won, he got my support against a horrendous candidate.

Over the past two years, MAGA completely lost me.

It’s not America First.

It’s not Making America Great Again.

It’s bullying anyone who doesn’t fall in line.

This is not what I voted for.

Please God, give us a better option in 2028

@KarlWuckert I support Massie and I was a lifelong Reagan Republican who voted for DeSantis in the 2024 Primary. I say WAS because 2 years ago I got so sick of what MAGA and the GOP establishment had done to the party that I changed my registration to Independent.
