Hanging On The Telephone is one of the great moments of the album Parallel Lines (1978), the album that transformed Blondie into one of the most important bands of new wave. The song is actually a cover of The Nerves (1976), but it gained a much more energetic version with the voice of Debbie Harry and the production of Mike Chapman.

Released as a single in 1978, the track became a hit in the UK (reaching #5) and helped consolidate the more pop and danceable sound that Blondie was developing at the time.

The band discovered the song through a demo tape that composer Jack Lee (of The Nerves) sent to them. Debbie Harry liked it so much that she insisted on recording. The track also gained even more visibility thanks to the band's energetic performances on TV shows of the time, helping to build Blondie's glamorous and punk image in the late 70s.

@DamienRactliffe I always reckon Moore could play as a forward like his father. When he played forward in the pass, the Pies couldn't kick the ball near him. He can read the drop of the ball really well. Try him there and see what happens.
