I overcame Type 2 Diabetes and obesity (aka Diabesity) when multiple MDs didn't think it could be done and wanted to put me on meds. Fortunately, some doctors are becoming enlightened and realize that chronic lifestyle diseases are not just manageable but actually reversible.
@LiberalActivis4@gtconway3d@MichaelFargano is accurate. Judges rule on evidence, not gather it. In a case of this import, the judge wants to make sure that all possible relevant evidence is found & presented, to prevent any chance of being overruled on appeal.
@VinnieTortorich People want quick fixes, a fact which 'feeds' the pharmaceutical weight loss industry.
For the cost of these drugs (which you'll take for the rest of your life), you can hire a professional health coach to support you in making small changes that grow into healthier life habits.
@robertlufkinmd What about the processes to increase the resistant starch in these foods? I agree in general that some people look at sugar as the only thing to reduce consumption of, and overlook the effects of starches breaking down into sugars. However. there are many ways to mitigate that.
You don’t need to eat meat to reach your protein goals. Beans, lentils, tofu, tempeh, whole grains, nuts, and seeds feed you and your gut microbes - keeping your digestion, immunity, and even mood in better balance. All the protein, none of the risk!
It's unfortunate that politics, not science, now runs our health agencies. Be sure to pay attention to facts and scientific research! Your lifestyle is many times more powerful than genetics in affecting your weight. Don't blame, shame, or give up on yourself to gain or lose it!
This is a member of our USDA nutrition guidelines committee
She says diet doesn’t effect obesity and the number one cause is “genetics”
She also takes money from several pharmaceutical companies

@levarburton We can make our hot chocolate healthier by replacing some of the sugar-filled mix with cacao powder.
I also enjoy adding cinnamon, ginger, and a bit of turmeric to make mine even healthier!
@robertlufkinmd Our cats are fooled by the smell of plant-based burger until they sniff it up close and realize it's not their kind of food. (And, unfortunately, it won't be *my* kind of food in the future, after learning that the harm from ultra-processing trumps the plant-based benefits. ☹️)
This is a long essay from several years ago, and it's fairly long, but it's beautifully written and makes a number of points worth considering regarding sleep and our attitudes about it: https://t.co/rmU5CtSXkf

This in-depth article shows how easy it is for both the unscrupulous and opportunists to take advantage of, and in some cases actually harm, the people hospice care is supposed to help. As a country, we should be doing far better to regulate their ability to get away with this!
Companies in the hospice business can expect some of the biggest returns for the least amount of effort of any sector in American health care.
Medicare pays providers a set rate per patient per day, regardless of how much help they deliver. https://t.co/6LlLqJArMv

@stevemagness (I assert that some scrollers remain bored!)
Many of us are uncomfortable talking to strangers, which may be from concerns re what they'd think of us. But when we initiate conversations based on either observed commonalities or genuine curiosity, we take the focus off ourselves.
From new study published in @ejcneditor European Journal of Clinical Nutrition: "Our results suggest that plants as a source of protein may be associated with better sleep quality than animal sources of protein."
