A Limpopo mother [27] was arrested on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, after confessing to poisoning her two sons following a dispute with their father in Madabani Village in the Sinthumule area, Vhembe.

The children aged 6 and 9 reportedly fell ill on Tuesday, 2 June, suffering from vomiting, diarrhoea and weakness.

The first one was rushed to Tshilwavhusiku Health Centre, where he was declared dead on arrival, while his older brother was later found dead at home.

A total of 78 learners, aged between 6 and 14, were transported to hospital following a collision involving two scholar transport buses near Skierlik in Thabazimbi, Limpopo, on Wednesday.

According to preliminary reports, one of the buses allegedly suffered brake failure, resulting in the crash.

All affected learners were taken to Thabazimbi Provincial Hospital for medical assessment and treatment.

A two-year-old boy has died following a suspected sexual assault in Maphosa Village, Botlokwa, in Limpopo.

The child was taken to Ga-Makgato Clinic on 30 May 2026 after suffering severe abdominal pain and diarrhoea. He was later transferred to Botlokwa Hospital, where he died.

Medical findings by the attending doctor reportedly indicated signs consistent with sexual assault.

Fifty undocumented foreign nationals were deported and seven buses impounded during a multi-agency law enforcement operation at Baobab Toll Plaza near Musina on Tuesday.

The operation, led by the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency (C-BRTA) alongside partner agencies, also resulted in several arrests related to fraudulent permits, fake licence discs, bribery, and drunk driving.

Authorities said the crackdown forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and curb illegal cross-border transport activities in the province.
