I am excited to announce a new chapter in my life. Starting April 14, I will be moving on from coaching and joining Intuitive Surgical as a Clinical Territory Associate.
Leaving public education has been an extremely difficult decision for me. Since I was 16 years old, all I wanted to be was a coach. The impact that coaches had in my life as a kid is immeasurable. These were the men I grew up wanting to be like.

They showed me so much of what it meant to be a man: Honor. Sacrifice. Loyalty. Hard Work. Toughness. Love. They helped a trailer park kid from Bacliff change his trajectory in life. For the last 10 years, I have strived to be like these men. Being called 'Coach' has been the greatest honor of my life.

The lessons these men taught me have guided me to a very successful coaching career that I thought would span decades. Those same lessons are why I must leave public education in pursuit of a better life for my family. While the title of Coach is prestigious, it is not lucrative. My wife and daughters deserve a better life than what Coach Taylor has given them. So the whistle gets hung up. The shorts get traded for scrubs. The sun hat gets traded for a bouffant. The barbell is traded for a surgical robot.

This is not a sad post. I cannot wait to be a part of the Intuitive Surgical team. I found a team of people who are singularly focused on winning. A product that is truly a marvel of modern engineering. A mission that is moral and good. A path to a better life for my family. This is the type of team I have always wanted to be a part of.
If I ever had the honor of being your coach, I hope I helped you. That was my only goal.
