I'm a Sociologist @umontana. I love TV, politics, donuts, all dressed potato chips, and pop culture shenanigans (among other things). Best Show 4 life.
@dskamper@daisypitkin@MarkDilley PS. Southern Arizona fun fact: have been to the Phoenix coffeeshop that one of the scenes in the book takes place in, so was envisioning the scene while reading!
@dskamper@daisypitkin@MarkDilley Finally read this fantastic book by @daisypitkin. Beautiful and heart-breaking. @daisypitkin let me know if you ever need a moderator/interviewer for a book event. A double Daisy panel would be so fun!
Still no response from @poppin customer service, even though I received an email from the company today asking me to review the file cabinet that I bought. The quality of @poppin customer service is outrageous & is making me consider never buying from them again! #workunhappy
Very disappointed that @poppin isn’t concerned about online customers’ satisfaction. Recently learned that I’d have to pay 41% of price of my new file cabinet to return/exchange it for a model that will actually meet my needs.
In the future, I’ll only buy online from companies that are willing to exchange items so that online customers are actually satisfied with their purchases. #workunhappy
So sad to hear the news yesterday that Dan Clawson died. For 20+ years I've been impressed by his commitment to walking the walk. He was not just a scholar of work and labor, but was also an activist to his core. He'll be missed but never forgotten. https://t.co/lh5sTLgTf4

#UMSocialStrat students, which of the perspectives on inequality that we discussed in week 2 would help you make sense of this new study about how "Speaking Black Dialect in Courtrooms Can Have Striking Consequences" ?

@nancywyuen@eurohistorian Yes! My notes so far include "help!" and "what did I get myself into?" and "I think I love this" and "I don't really know what I'm doing" ...
I'm teaching my first online class this semester & am really enjoying it, especially the opportunity to hear directly from every student re: what/how they're learning each week. But wow it's a lot of work to do it right! Luckily I have people like @eurohistorian to help me...
Teaching a @umontana#osher course this winter with the amazing Leora Bar-el from Anthropology/Linguistics. Our class examines the assumptions around "Success in America" using Sociological and Linguistic approaches. The students are so engaged and curious, which is awesome.
@eurohistorian@TobinShearer verything I know about this topic I've learned from you, @eurohistorian! So sadly have nothing to contribute. BUT I know that your presentation will be awesome. Is it on campus? If so, share the details so that I can try to attend?
