Yeah man, it’s hard to imagine a way back for Thomas Tuchel after that exit. Impossible.

England went out of their way and got him, a German football manager, to help them navigate past psychologically difficult situations. That was the primary reason for his appointment.

Knowing how good Kobbie Mainoo is at playing in tight spaces and progressing the ball up the pitch, it feels a total waste he didn’t feature for a single minute in this campaign when England only played well in fleeting moments. The Mexico win was fabulously defiant but overall I didn’t see the improvement in game management Thomas Tuchel was brought in for.
