SECURITY ALERT - IMMINENT THREAT - YELWA

Location: Nghar Village, Gashish District, Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, Nigeria - Coordinates: 9°25'41.63"N 8°48'57.02"E[Yelwa]

Credible intelligence indicates that armed Fulani militia and bandit elements have laid multiple ambushes along routes leading to Nghar village, targeting mourners expected to attend the burial of two persons killed in last night's attack on the village.

The same intelligence indicates a planned, coordinated attack on the burial itself in Nghar, Gashish District, Barkin Ladi LGA.[Yelwa]

Urgent Action Required:

There is an immediate need for deployment of security operatives not only along the Gashish - Barkin Ladi road, but also in Nghar village and surrounding villages within Gashish District to forestall the planned attack.

If not averted, this would be a repeat of the 23 June 2018 massacre in which 86 people were killed in this same village.
