I sat down with Sir Michael Parkinson just 2 years after I had started interviewing TV, music and film stars.
He had perfected the art of the chat show and made it look easy. It has always been about the guest, allowing space for them to talk and tell great stories.
That’s still true today. Everyone is human.
We spoke about journalism, working at the same newspaper and how everything was moving online, especially the way people consume news.
He told interesting stories and gave great advice, even signing a book for me too.
