🚨Despite 53% of UK teenagers knowing a stroke survivor, 40% don’t know calling 999 is the first thing you should do if someone is having a stroke. And over half of UK teenagers were unaware of the FAST acronym. #PassFASTon this #WorldStrokeDay and you could save a life #WSD2022
World Stroke Day today- let us also remember that, globally a stroke happens every 2 seconds. 1 in 4 people over the age of 25 will suffer a stroke in their lifetime. About 80% of strokes are preventable. When stroke strikes, Time is Brain.Act FAST and seek urgent medical help.

I mostly feel sorry for healthcare staff, unsure whether to dock points on the mental test score of patients who can't name the current prime minster or monarch.
I was reminded again today of the WONDER that is thrombolysis. Pt admitted Sunday with severe expressive aphasia and dense R sided weakness. Thrombolysed as <4.5hrs from onset. By Monday language impairment improving and today fully resolved. Amazing. Time really is brain.
I feel immensely proud and lucky to work with such an amazing SLT team 💖💖 I’ve learnt so much about all different areas of SLT this afternoon in our annual showcase event 🫁🗣🧠 #ELHT#SLT
I had such an amazing day last week graduating with my favourite people 🥰
Class of 2020! 👩🏻🎓 Thank you for the best 4 years! @OfficialUoM I have had the best start to my SLT career working with an amazing team @ELHT_SLT @ELHT_NHS 💖
A great opportunity to rotate and gain experience in many different fields. You’d be joining such a supportive team of SLTs in a great NHS Trust 🏥 the ideal role for any new grads or those looking for a change 🗣🧠🍽 #SLT2be#NQP#SLTjobs#NHS#ELHT#SLT
Great thread showing how it might feel to have modified consistencies! I will definitely think twice when recommending thickener to patients 🤔☕️ #SLT#dysphagia#NutritionAndHydrationWeek
#NutritionAndHydrationWeek I decided to drink thickened fluids today to try and relate to our patients and understand how they feel when we make recommendations @ELHT_SLT
A patient cried today when I gave him a biscuit 😭 he’s so excited to be on a regular diet and he can’t wait for the brew trolley to come round 🍪☕️made me step back and realise it’s really the small things that can have such a big impact on our patients #mySLTday#dysphagia
We have two exciting positions to join our @NeurorehabE & @ELHTStrokeTeam as a Trainee Assistant Practitioner/ Assistant practitioner https://t.co/xyD63qv7RG
A friend very kindly gifted me “Big Panda and Tiny Dragon” by @NorburyJames and it’s such a lovely, thoughtful read 🥺 I thought I would share some of the messages, especially going into yet another wave of covid ❤️ I think the last picture is so very important! ☕️
Been fairly quiet on here for a few months but what a year 2021 has been! 14months into my 1st SLT role (during covid) & I can’t believe how much I have learnt & developed 👏 Signed off my dysphagia competencies 🍽& worked across community & stroke pathways 🧠🗣 bring on 2022! ✨
