Elara carefully navigated the strategically placed flat stepping stones across the stream, trying to keep her boots from getting wet. She stopped halfway to observe small water insects moving across the clear, still surface of the water.
She goes to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. After applying face cream, she changes into her work attire: a white blouse, black trousers, and black shoes. She then brushes her hair and ties it into a ponytail. Passion makes work feel effortless.
Playing video games with my brother. The sweetness of summer mangoes is intense and unrestrained, brimming with passion. Much like the midsummer sun, it radiates pure enthusiasm without reservation.
Community activists in Senatobia, Mississippi have identified Officer Hunter Foster as the officer who allegedly killed 1‑year‑old Kohen Kartier Wiley outside a Walmart.
Officials still have not publicly released the officer’s name, but the community is naming what the system will not: a baby’s life was taken during a police response to a reported shoplifting call.
Local and state reporting confirm that officers opened fire on a vehicle near the Walmart and that Kohen was killed and an adult was wounded. Those same reports confirm that the investigation is ongoing and that the officer is on leave, while key details and the body‑camera footage remain out of public view.
When institutions stay silent, it is often the community that has to identify the people involved and demand transparency, accountability, and real consequences.
That is the work activists are doing here.
Say his name: Kohen Kartier Wiley.
Say his name: Hunter Foster.

That wasn't the point of the sit-ins. Black people were paying taxes for libraries, schools, grocery stores, and other facilities they weren't allowed to use. This wasn't to be in a space, it was to stop get equal access to what they're already paying for.
Barber-Scotia College was the first higher education institution for Black women in this country. Today it is fighting to survive. The 144K Collective is asking 144,000 people to donate just $1.44 to help save this historic institution. Our HBCUs are not just schools. They are the foundation of our history, our culture, and our future.
