After several stinging agent rejections, I was in the process of moving Sky's End into my "shelved books" folder. But a feeling told me not to.
So, I sent out another batch of queries. The first agent in that batch? She signed me, and we sold Sky's End in the 1st round on sub.

Hi.
Today, I handed in my notice from my full-time job. I’m 40, been working since I was 18 (even during my degree), and I’m just so sick of not caring about what I do.
My head is constantly in other worlds and adventures, so fuck it I’m writing—wish me luck! 🍾
IT'S TODAY! 🥳🎉
Sky of Seven Colors: Meg disappears into a gray other-earth where color is treasure. And she has red flowing through her veins...

Here is a #Review of Broken I ❤️.
Thank you @jgmacleodauthor
My original plan was to read Ivy Logan’s YA fantasy novel, Broken, with my teenage daughter, but her many extracurricular activities delayed our progress. I decided to begin again during my spring break, this time alone. I finished it quickly due to its fast pace and wonderful characters.
I am often moved by stories with strong women, or plots that involve overcoming incredible odds. Broken contains both. I also discovered this story isn’t just for adolescents; I believe the appeal is wider than that because of how relatable the struggles are (family dynamics, parenting, loyalty, and so on) to adults as well.
Talia’s journey is not an easy one, and Logan’s depiction of her as a strong, capable, courageous, and powerful protagonist provides the perfect woman to root for throughout the book.
Again, just like my expectations that the plot would be geared at a YA audience, so too did I anticipate the tale would focus solely on fantasy.
The talented Logan adeptly weaves other sub-genres into her writing, such as romance and action, which is a pleasant surprise. Is it strange that I could picture this story as an updated fairytale due to its cautionary message of balancing the desire for power with the need for compassion?
In addition, the vivid imagery, well defined settings, and magical elements would be killer in a film.
In some ways, Broken is also an examination of intermarriage, blended families, and what it means to be a human or supernatural being. While Logan does spend time explaining past conflicts, she also shows that what defines us (and her characters) isn’t so easily defined. Caitlin is strong, but also fallible. Like Macbeth, she receives a warning that she could either abide by, conforming her life to ensure the prophecy isn’t realized, or embrace what some may call the weaker parts of herself in order to be happy. Some readers may be upset that Caitlin gives in to temptation, thus setting other conflicts in motion, but I see this as a mirror of real life: we don’t learn anything new, or grow in significant ways, without strife or change. Caitlin’s ability to love might have negative consequences, but it also brings forth new life. Thus, hope is forged, making love the stronger force in the end. I think our world needs this type of compassion and hope, too - someone who is willing to risk everything for love.
I thoroughly enjoyed Broken and look forward to reading another book by the talented Ivy Logan. I will also re-read this book with my daughter during our summer holidays. 5 stars!
