The call for atonement in a time of trouble

Thousands gathered at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on Oct. 11 for the 31st Anniversary of the Million Man March and Holy Day of Atonement, ready to hear a message from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, delivered by his National Assistant, Student Minister Ishmael Muhammad. The message was also available and viewed live via internet webcast.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, National Representative of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, called one million Black men to gather on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., under the theme.

“Atonement, Reconciliation and Responsibility,” and on Oct. 16, 1995, nearly two million men answered the call. The Million Man March demonstrated a unity never previously seen among Black men.
