@ArlanFF101 I think the biggest culprit is cloudy weather during pollination. Here is a pic and a link to a demo we had in 2021. https://t.co/kqpNxw3UAZ

Many centuries of corn, from Teosinte to @PioneerSeeds oldies of 3369A and 3394 on down to the recent P1742Q. It is awesome to see where corn has come from and to think of what the possibilities are.
@jasonmauck1 Interesting question, I think where conditions are dry it is delaying maturity which is buying time but overall the smoke is a negative. I will link a study we did with shade cloth a couple years ago throughout the season that produced some great visuals.

#seedorientation plot 2.0
This was such a neat way to show the importance of canopy closure last yr that we planted another one. And yes, @PioneerSeeds corn leaves still orientate in direction of germ.
Does corn seed orientation in the furrow at planting matter? Maybe. Research over the years has been mixed but a 2022 field study showed some promise. PAGE 39 https://t.co/ECYmqa7dcb
This video illustrates well what happens in #Brazil🇧🇷 at this time where farmer harvests the soybeans and the corn or cotton planter comes right behind planting the #safrinha.
That’s why I say: #Agro never stops

Lots of great info in the 2023 @PioneerSeeds agronomy book. Included in the book is a summary of the seed orientation trial that we conducted. It is found on page 39.
