Ultimately leading to work dissatisfaction and thus suboptimal care... Poorer ptient outcomes... In essence, the LGU may save up PS costs BUT they might have more re-admissions or worse morbidity/mortality. #SaveCebuPatients
When our team for a consultancy project interviewed Cebu PHOs, they mentioned that the new Governor wanted to rationalize their HRH: remove previous JOs (which are usually considered as political hires) and see what happens to the hospital operations. #SaveCebuPatients

Para kanino? No one wins in this situation. Not the healthcare workers who lost their jobs. Not the patients who now have even more difficult access to quality healthcare. #SaveCebuPatients
@smnhan The brain drain our country currently having is disturbing for us "usual citizens" but surprisingly not disturbing for the government. Why? Because when their higher officials get sick, they go abroad and find treatment. Such a mess! #SaveCebuPatients
Imagine being given just 3 days notice for your possible termination. I was on vacation that time and found out through my colleagues on facebook. I didn’t think I’d be returning and losing a job.

A friend posted this on Facebook. He’s one of the many HCPs who got axed by the Cebu prov govt with a mere 3 days notice. The reason for mass termination? The Cebu govt believes the hospitals are overstaffed. But are they? If u’ve ever been in a govt hosp, u’d know they’re not.
As a previous healthworker in that hospital, I feel for the patients and for the remaining healthcare workers. All for politics! Thia is so alarming and saddening.
With being understaffed and overworked, some chose to resign than to compromise their own health. Who will be left to take care of the sick? Quality healthcare is lost.

Recently elected governor, Gwen Garcia, stated that her team would conduct a performance evaluation on all employees of the public hospitals to decide who will be retained. Of the two lists sent to the capitol, one came back with a significantly reduced number of employees.
Since then, several sections of these hospitals were closed, cases were either declined or referred and patients were forced to travel for hours to seek medical attention.
