Quite excited to be a part of the DC-NBC team involved in drafting, review and editing of the District Cooling Code for National Building Code 2025 of India!
The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Planning and Architecture at NIT Rourkela, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (@ishraehq) Bhubaneswar Sub-Chapter, successfully organised the 2nd edition of the skill-enhancing program, ACRESERVE 2023, with the esteemed presence of Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao (Director, NIT Rourkela) as the Chief Guest.
To disseminate knowledge and enhance the skills of Diploma and ITI institutions, this edition incorporated the top 20 students from each Diploma and ITI college, along with technicians from industries and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and AC) dealers. Institutions like S.K.D.A.V Government Polytechnic and Utkalmani Gopabandhu Institute of Engineering, as well as ITI institutions like Indira Memorial Industrial Training Centre Rourkela, and Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Industrial Training Centre Rourkela actively participated in the program. Technicians from SAIL Rourkela, BHEL Ranchi, and local HVAC dealers also contributed to the program's success.
The program encompassed a wide array of topics, including the basics of refrigeration, fundamentals of heat exchangers for HVAC applications, HVAC in green buildings, an industry presentation on HVAC air-cooled condensers by Blue Star, and a guided tour of the institute's centralised HVAC plant. ACRESERVE 2023 significantly augmented the knowledge base of prospective HVAC engineers and bridged the gap between academic curriculum and industry requisites in the field of HVAC.
