Supporting Dukeries Eco Watch climate group - let's tell the truth and create a better world. Climate is changing and won't stop until humans change too.
Won’t lower energy bills.
Won’t boost energy security
And creates just 27 jobs.
Compared to all the benefits of investing in renewables and insulating our homes.

Before Google’s arrival a few months ago, an estimated 250,000 trees occupied the 330 hectares (815 acres) of forest near Muhos in rural northern Finland. Now they are all gone, the tech company illegally stripped the entire area to build a datacentre

For 70 years, we were told plastic was safe because it doesn't react with anything.
Nature just published proof that it does. And the trigger is water.
Researchers at Columbia University and UC Berkeley took six of the most common plastics on Earth.
Polyethylene. Polypropylene. Polystyrene. PVC. PET. Acrylic.
The stuff in your water bottles, food containers, pipes and packaging.
They ground them into microplastics and dropped them into plain water.
Nothing else. No sunlight. No chemicals. Just plastic and water.
And the water started changing.
At the surface of every single plastic, it began producing hydroxyl radicals. One of the most reactive and destructive molecules in chemistry.
All six plastics did it. Every one.
To prove it, they added a yellow dye to water with polystyrene. Over 10 days, nearly 90% of the dye was destroyed. The water turned almost clear.
In other liquids, the dye survived. Only water made the plastic active.
In plain English:
The plastic isn't leaking a toxic chemical.
It is turning the water around it into something that attacks.
Then they tested what that does to living things.
DNA and proteins got pulled onto the plastic surface like magnets.
Proteins started clumping together.
And red blood cells that touched the particles were torn into broken fragments.
But here is the twist.
The most dangerous plastics were the ones we trusted most.
Polyethylene and polypropylene, the "safe" plastics in bottles and food containers, were the most reactive of all.
The effect was weaker in blood serum. But it was still there.
And microplastics have already been found in human blood, brains, placentas and arteries.
The lead researcher said it plainly: "Water is a key active player here, rather than just a spectator."
We spent decades asking what chemicals leak out of plastic.
Nobody thought to ask what plastic does to the water inside us.
How many times have you sipped from a plastic bottle today?
Now Australia is allowing culling of native Rainbow Lorikeets if it’s deemed they are having a ‘negative’ impact on agriculture…
Seriously, what is WRONG with every government on earth??? It’s a CONSTANT WAR ON NATURE! 😡😡🤬
🚨 THIS IS HOW A GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS BUILDS.
The world is now fighting over sulphur:
Sulphur is needed to manufacture phosphate fertiliser, which farmers need to grow the crops that become our food.
Before the Iran war, roughly half the world’s sulphur passed through the Strait of Hormuz. Disruption there has reportedly sent sulphur from its usual $100–$200 a tonne to close to $1,000.
Now something extraordinary is happening.
Mining companies and fertiliser manufacturers are competing for the same scarce resource and mining is winning.
Fertiliser manufacturers are already cutting production because farmers cannot afford the resulting prices.
Their warning is brutally simple: eventually reduced fertiliser use means lower global crop yields and higher food prices.
Add this to drought, extreme weather, disrupted grain routes, expensive energy and increasing protectionism.
And remember that Britain has simultaneously allowed its own food-producing capacity to decline while becoming increasingly dependent upon imports.
This is why the policy of “we can always import it” is not a food-security strategy.
Import what? From whom? At what price?
Food security is national security.
And the warning lights are now flashing red 🆘
The IDF beating Orthodox Jews who are protesting being forcefully conscripted into the IDF to commit War Crimes.
I can't imagine the Media response if any other country did this to Jews to force them to serve in the army.
But it wouldn't be silence.
Some say early 2030s. Others say 2028. But the math says it already happened in February, 2026.
The Climate 8-Ball says there will not be a year in the next 100 years with a temperature anomaly less than 1.5°C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline.
🆘 This is Sir James Eadie QC, the Government’s own barrister, in the Court of Appeal in 2019.
Listen carefully to what he says.
Theresa May was, he told the court, “entirely well aware” of the “notorious” facts surrounding the referendum: the Electoral Commission findings, police investigations, ICO work and parliamentary scrutiny.
And then this:
“It’s perfectly obvious that the PM has decided to carry on.”
🔥 That is the heart of it.
The referendum was advisory. Serious unlawful conduct had already been established around the campaign. The PM knew the findings and proceeded anyway.
At the same time, Parliament had authorised the Article 50 notification, but had never expressly enacted the separate Article 50(1) decision to withdraw. That was the issue raised in my own Webster judicial review.
The courts refused permission in both Webster and Wilson. Now, years later, we are being told that Russia also interfered in the 2016 referendum.
That is why this can no longer be brushed aside as old Brexit litigation.
We need a statutory public inquiry under the Inquiries Act 2005.
We need the documents, the intelligence assessments, the Cabinet record, the legal advice, the witnesses under oath, and the full Article 50 decision-making trail.
Because the question is now very simple:
What did the Government know, when did it know it, and on what basis was Britain actually taken out of the European Union?

I don't live in the middle of the New Forest.
This is a tiny triangle of woods at the end of my road.
But the water I put out there every night is the only water available for miles.
Despite some recent rain, the ponds, rivers and streams are all still dry from the drought.
So these poor deer, along with badgers, foxes, squirrels, hedgehogs, and all manner of birds are forced to travel miles each night to get to this water.
It's a lifesaver for them.
Please be a lifesaver for your local wildlife.
A dish of water in the back and front - even if you don't have a garden - may mean the difference between life and death to some poor struggling animal.
Please keep it full, and keep it clean, every night.
Please don't give up, it may take a while for the wildlife to find you.
Every single hedgehog through these hospital doors this year has been suffering from dehydration.
It's heartbreaking, hearing these dear sweet animals gasp their last breath, knowing that if someone, somewhere, only turned on their tap and put out some water this precious life would have been saved.
Our wildlife are dying of thirst.
In this green and pleasant land.
Weather and conditions have changed, and we need to change too, and help out those less fortunate than ourselves.
It's such a small effort, for such a huge reward.❤️🩹
The former editor of The Spectator claims that "welfare has either eroded or destroyed the financial purpose of low-paid work."
You can see where this argument is heading. If work doesn't pay, the problem apparently isn't the poverty wages, extortionate rents or the rising cost of living. It's that the safety net isn't cruel enough.
So what's the solution? Cut benefits, make claiming more punitive, force people into whatever miserable wages employers are prepared to offer. Perhaps we could bring back the workhouse while we're at it.
There's a perfectly reasonable argument that people should be better off in work. But why does the answer always seem to involve making the poor poorer rather than making work pay?
A welfare system should protect people from destitution, not become an excuse for employers to keep wages low.
The working class fought for generations to escape the workhouse mentality. It would be a remarkable achievement to reintroduce it under the banner of economic reform, under a Labour government
Should be leading the news.
'Prepare for the unthinkable' warning over autumn flooding
People are being told to prepare for "the unthinkable" as flood response teams warn of a heightened risk over the autumn.
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) said it was concerned by long-range forecasts, external
which indicated an increased likelihood of wetter, windier weather than usual over the coming months.
Those living in flood-hit areas told BBC Wales they were worried, and had started preparing.

I am shocked by the political inertia in the face of what Israelis -settlers and soldiers- are doing in Palestine, where terror has become a daily reality. In the West Bank, torching century old trees and poisoning livestock. When will the EU take action against Apartheid Israel?
When The Gates Of Tech Dystopia Snap Shut
There’s a viral video clip showing a group of wild boars getting caught in a corral trap. When the gate snaps shut the poor animals run around in a panic, searching in vain for an exit.
According to the caption that’s been going around, the trapper waited patiently for five days for the entire sounder to get comfortable enough to take the bait and enter the trap all at once. The gate didn’t close until the final pig walked into the enclosure.
And, yeah. That’s pretty much where we’re at right now.
We’ve been standing around munching on our bait, enjoying our bread and our circuses, blissfully unaware of the trapper who is patiently waiting for the perfect moment to slam the gate shut on us all.
“Man, AI sure is great.”
“Check it out, we’re all Miyazaki characters!”
“I let ChatGPT choose my outfit for today!”
“I wrote a song just by typing in a prompt! Can you believe it? I’m making music!”
“We’re ALL artists now!”
“Oh shit, the gate just closed!”
“They’re listening to everything we say!”
“Fuck, there are police drones everywhere!”
“They’re putting guns on those robot dogs!”
“The state AI canceled my digital money because I tried to start a union!”
“I said Free Palestine and now I can’t access the internet!”
They’ve been quietly constructing a cage around us this entire time in order to lock us into this capitalist dystopia forever. The oligarchs and empire managers have been rapidly developing technologies that will facilitate mass surveillance and autonomous weapons systems — already being field-tested in places like Gaza — which just so happen to be exactly what the ruling class would require in order to undermine and quash any revolutionary movements which might emerge in response to the ever-increasing abuses and inequalities of capitalism.
The trapper is patiently pacing us into accepting mass surveillance, unfettered artificial intelligence advancement, militarized robots, police drones, digital currencies, propaganda, censorship, and the AI-assisted manipulation of the flow of information.
And then, when the time is right, the gate will come crashing down.
It’s essentially a race between revolution and high-tech totalitarianism. A race between the awakening of public consciousness to the urgent need for revolutionary change, and the ability of our rulers to prevent revolutionary change from ever occurring. A race between our ability to start using the power of our numbers to force an end to the abusive systems under which we live, and the ability of rich and powerful dominators to use surveillance, robotics and AI-assisted control mechanisms to nullify all the advantages we hold over them.
And right now our biggest disadvantage is that most of us don’t even know we’re in this race. Our rulers know it, but the average member of the public does not. Most of us are still chewing on the bait in the trap.
There is still time. The trap isn’t shut yet. But we need to awaken the other piggies in the pen to the reality of what the bastards have planned for us, and help them understand that the race is underway.
Reading by Tim Foley:
I've just signed the Palantir Pledge, joining politicians across the world in committing not to support any public contracts with this US tech giant.
The next big battle here is to use the upcoming break clause to kick Palantir out of our NHS!
I recently spoke to @thenerve_news about reports that the Government has spent or agreed to spent at least £992m with Palantir.
It’s becoming increasingly clear the British state is in the early stages of addiction to Palantir and all it represents.
We now have a chance to chart a new and better course away from Palantir. We should take it quickly, with both hands.
