Dakota Wesleyan graduate loses mother in tragic car accident
--Mitchell, SD
Anthony Riggans should have spent this weekend celebrating one of the proudest moments of his life — graduating from Dakota Wesleyan University with his mother cheering him on from the stands. Instead, he is facing every child’s worst nightmare.
His mother, Nette, was traveling from Texas to Mitchell to watch her only son walk across that stage. She never made it. She tragically lost her life in a car accident in Missouri on Mother’s Day weekend.
Now, at just 22 years old, Anthony is carrying a burden no young man should have to carry alone — planning his mother’s funeral and trying to bring her home to Texas to be laid to rest.
You can feel through every photo and every story just how proud she was of him. She showed up. She loved deeply. She made the trip because nothing in the world mattered more than seeing her ONLY son succeed.
A day that should have been filled with joy, celebration, hugs, and proud tears has instead become a day of grief, shock, and unimaginable loss.
If you are able, please consider donating to help ease even a small part of the financial burden he is now facing. If you cannot donate, please share this post and keep Anthony and his family in your prayers during this devastating time.
