This one punched me hard in the gut when I got the news last night.
Hold a good thought for Boston Bob and his family today, if you will.
I first met Bobby years ago when we were on the way up as coaches at Binghamton and we had a dual at Sacred Heart. I know a lot of people who have the exact wrong temperament for the job they have chosen. Bob was the opposite. He was witty, disarming and exuded a love for being an official from the opening whistle. He quickly became a staple at any event I hosted- college or high school and I'm grateful that I had as many opportunities as I did to see him work.
You are going share this space called wrestling with a lot of people and this is going to allow you to develop some pretty awesome relationships. If there was one thing that Bob was better at than officiating, it was this.
He will be missed.
Big difference between a great record and getting better. Bump up. Wrestle studs. Challenge yourself. Travel the harder road. Put it on the line. Have fun! You don’t train as hard as you do and sacrifice all you do to wrestle easy guys. Test yourself!
A friend and college coach once told me when asked about what he wanted out of wrestling for his kid something I’ll never forget. My kids were very young. He said, “I want my son to want to go to the NCAA’s with me when he’s 25.” One of the most impactful statements on me.

There will be a meeting next Tuesday (10/18) right after school in the WHS Charbonneau Field House for any student interested in going out for the wrestling team this upcoming winter season.
Pre 2010, the Football players I trained would play pick up Basketball 2-3 nights a week. They also played other sports.
Today, our Football players insist on going to special camps for hand fighting when the best option is join the wrestling team.
More street ball needed.
